| Tom Rowson - Filmmaking Diploma Graduate
Tom studied Mathematics at the University of Liverpool before choosing to pursue film. He graduated from London Film Academy in January 2004 and made his first film, 'Arrowman Sam' that summer with a crew of fellow LFA alumni. 'Arrowman Sam' was a finalist in the DM Davies Award at the Cardiff Film Festival 2004. Tom was a finalist in the Broadcast Magazine Young Talent Writer of the Year 2005 and won the Cinemagic UK Young Filmmaker 2005 award. 'Arrowman Sam' successes at film festivals include: Belfast Film Festival - Best Short Film, Filmstock (Luton) - Audience Award, Cinemagic Awards (Belfast) - Young Filmmaker 2005, End of the Pier (Bognor Regis), Cardiff Film Festival - in the top 3 best shorts, Broadcast Awards (London) - nominated for Young Writer of the Year. “The LFA Showcase kick-started everything for me. It helped get me an agent, meetings with production companies and invitations to several film festivals.” Tom has also worked as a writer for Baby Cow Productions, World Productions and BBC Comedy. He now coordinates the LFA Post Production department and oversees all of the editing at LFA part time, whilst continuing his freelance comedy and filmmaking career. As a stand up comedian, Tom won ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ in 2011 and was a finalist for the ‘BBC New Comedian of the Year Award 2012’.
