The LFA is properly outgoing and dynamic
in its approach to cinema as art and craft. |

The thing that immediately smacks you in
the face as soon as you walk through its once

It's
undoubtedly a slick operation, filled with
an infectious energy. It is almost as if,
while other film schools churn out graduating
class after graduating class with bored
ease this youthful establishment is still
excited to be home to movie makers, not
yet cynical about the harsh world it is
preparing its children for. |

What students
need is confidence and a strong basic knowledge.
No one was ever hired in the film industry
on the basis of a paper qualification.
Getting on is a mater of contacts and skills
and this is what we intend to provide.
Collaboration is crucial
to filmmaking, and in keeping with this,
one of the key criteria applied when selecting
people for the diploma was their likely
capacity for teamwork. |

My year
at LFA was a fantastic investment. I have
become a multi-skilled filmmaker and I can
make informed and well-grounded decisions
during the whole production.

the certificate and diploma courses, because
you will really need to put everything else
in your life on hold. Filmmaking is one
of the most team-intensive industries around. |

Whatever
field you end up working in in the movie business,
an appreciation of the nuts and bolts of how
they are organised and run is crucial to any
role. Students will learn that an appreciation
of all the key roles in filmmaking will eventually
inform them at a much higher level in the
discipline they eventually pursue as a career. |

While Academy
work placements may help students get jobs,
nothing in what is still basically a cottage
industry is guaranteed, and students will
still find that serendipity plays its traditional
role. However, LFA graduates will be better
prepared to seize the opportunities when they
arise, ahead of those with theoretical knowledge
but no practical experience |
