Airbrush Makeup

Airbrush makeup is an efficient alternative to traditional makeup and the makeup of choice in high-definition television (HDTV).  Our hands-on comprehensive training introduces you to professional techniques and principles of airbrush makeup, hair and nail art and body tanning.  All tutors are working industry professionals.

The course is aimed at working makeup artists wishing to learn new skills or for graduates of makeup courses intending to work in makeup for film, TV, theatre or fashion.

Course Duration:

  • 2 days (classes 10:00 – 16:30 daily)
  • 5 days (classes 10:00 – 16:30 daily)

COURSE OVERVIEW 

The 2-day workshop is an introduction to:

  •   Airbrush systems and materials
  •   Setting up equipment, cleaning and maintenance
  •   Health & safety
  •   Airbrushing techniques - freehand and stencil
  •   Makeup application: foundations, transparent versus opaque look, shading & highlighting
  •   Body art (washable tattoos and tanning)
  •   Nail art and hair art (hair adornments and colouration)
  •   Q & A session


The 5-day workshop covers the above areas in a greater depth and also includes:

  •   Mastering all airbrush techniques on models with tutor support
  •  Final day project on models to include glamour cosmetics, stencils, tanning, hair and nail art
  •   Photographic session
  •   Optional: Prosthetics for experienced make-up artists (optional)

COURSE TUTORS include:
JILL HAGGER built up an international reputation as a makeup artist, with assignments in films, commercials, print, music, arts and entertainment. Jill trained as a beauty therapist before joining the BBC (1972-1997). She is a visiting tutor at leading makeup schools in the UK. Her credits range from: The Bill, The Lost World, Victoria Station, Great Expectations, Hi De Hi and The Royal Variety Performance to Glyndebourne Operas, Poldark and The House of Eliott. She continues to work as a freelance make-up and hair designer in film and television.

SHAUNA HARRISON trained at the BBC. She has worked on a variety of programmes including drama, light entertainment and dramatised documentaries. In 1988 she won a BAFTA and Royal Television Society Award for her outstanding work on Tumbledown. She also lectures at other makeup schools and colleges in London.
