This course is designed for Producers, Directors and anyone who wants to make a film.
This workshop gives an overview of the entire process of making a film from a Director and Producer's point of view. It covers:
script-writing
script development
financing your film
casting, dealing with agents
practical guide on how to choose your shots and direct on set
working relationships with Heads of Department
post-production (editing, music etc...).
what to do when your film is in the can
finding a sales agent
distribution
getting a cinema release
releasing on video
festivals
case studies, analysis of figures and facts
It's kind of the independent filmmaker's guide to making a film - with loads of practical tips, names of execs, sources of financing, and motivational advice!
Course times are 10am-5pm.
Tutors who have previously taught this course include: Jonathan Newman
Jonathan is a professional writer/director with over 10 years of experience in the industry. He runs Serendipity Films from Ealing Studios, and has written and directed feature films, commercials, TV and short films. Jonathan is a prolific writer, and has penned over 10 feature length screenplays. He has lived and worked in both USA and the UK.
