Digital effects enable contemporary filmmakers to take audiences to hyper-realised worlds that only previously existed in the imagination, and Webber is one of the industry’s best at delivering a director’s vision. In this special event, Webber will talk us through the creation of VFX for such films as Avatar, The Dark Knight, Where the Wild Things Areand Children of Men. The latter title brought Webber and his team at Framestore together with Alfonso Cuarón for a dystopian political thriller.
Among other shots, the baby they meticulously created with digital effects was enthusiastically applauded by the VFX community and earned Webber and his Framestore team a BAFTA nomination. That work also convinced Cuarón that Framestore were the right team for the job when he tackled his digitally created space epic Gravity. First reviews of the film have been ecstatic and all pinpointed the digital effects for special praise. Join BAFTA- and Oscar-nominated VFX Supervisor Tim Webber to learn more about key works from his career and look in particular at Framestore’s ground-breaking work on Gravity.
