London Film Academy presents Directing Actors at Encounters Film Festival
17 September 2015, 11.00-13.00

The relationship between directors and actors marks an essential collaborative partnership in the filmmaking process. Clear, precise and meaningful communication between them helps to save time on takes and is imperative to the making of a quality film.

We are running an extensive workshop at Encounters Film Festival this September which will cover: how to communicate effectively with actors in their own language, what actors expect from directors, working with actors of differing levels of experience, different approaches to acting and how you use them to help your actors, understanding vocabulary you need to get the performances you are looking for.

“Watch over 200 of the best new short and animated films from around the world screened in competition at the festival.  Including nine animation and six live action programmes, alongside six mixed showcases.  With record attendance in 2014 the 2015 competition screenings have been moved to a larger cinema space in Watershed, putting them centre stage as filmmakers compete for some of the top Awards in the Short Film Industry.”

Can’t make it to Encounters? We run Directing Actors as a weekend workshop throughout the year. Check the course calendar and find the date that works for you.
