London Film Academy presents: ACTING FOR DIRECTORS at The Smalls Film Festival

Get some practice on the other side of the lens - a practical workshop aimed at directors and directors-in training. The session will cover:

  • The essentials of what actors do and how
  • How to communicate effectively with actors in their own language
  • What actors expect from directors
  • Working with actors of differing levels of experience
  • Different approaches to acting and how you can make use of them to help your actors
  • Screen acting tips that your actors will thank you for
  • Simple techniques that can help with dramatic tension/interesting acting
  • The understanding and vocabulary you need to get the performances you are looking for

About the tutor: Joanna Ignaczewska has been involved in the casting for many TV series, short films and commercials. She is a graduate of the prestigious Actors Studio at Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City and has recently starred in the new hit comedy series 'Threesome'. Her acting credits include: BBC drama 'Wallander''; Matthew Xia's 'Windrush' at the Theatre Royal; reels of short film, music video and several feature films – including psychological thriller 'Scopia' dir. Chris Butler, 'Between Two Suns' dir. Samuel Maybank, 'Two Rooms and Mirror' dir. Lara Jasocki – and most recently a TV commercial with Cadbury for the London 2012 Olympic Games which she also cast. She currently has the lead role in a feature set to take her around the world shooting in London, Budapest, Vienna and Prague.
