STUDENT SUCCESS: Filmmaking Diploma student film showing at Passing Clouds as part of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign LFA Filmmaking Diploma graduate Omar Robert Hamilton has been commissioned by 'Yasmine's Song' director Najwa Najjar to make a short film as part of a collective of personal filmic responses to the Gaza airstrikes that took place in December 2008. 'When I Stretch Forth Mine Hand' will be screening, for free, on Tuesday 26 January, 19.30, as part of Hackney Palestine Solidarity Campaign: Catastrophe Club - Films From and About Palestine. Omar describes his short video as, "A dialogue between poem and image that explores personal and political tensions born out of Egypt's role in the assault on Gaza." The Catastrophe Club takes place at Passing Clouds, an informal arts venue in Dalston in east London. It is an evening of films organised by Hackney Palestine Solidarity Campaign three to four times a year. |
