Housed in what was originally a Methodist church, the London Film Academy is ideally situated in 6000 square feet, following a £200,000 investment from educational entrepreneur David Game.
The LFA currently has a Super 16mm Arri SR2 and Arri SR3 camera kits (high speed and standard) including Matte box kit, filters and lenses, a PD150 digital camera kit, Sony HDV and a Chameleon dolly and track. Lighting kits include a range of Arri 650's - 5 K's, standard red head and blond kits, flags and stands. Our sound equipment includes a state of the art TASCAM HD-P2, portable stereo audio recorder, a Fostex PD-4 DAT machine, SQN 4 mixer, microphone kits (radio/boom microphones) and 1/4 inch Nagra.
Our theatre offers digital projection, basic sound recording facilities. We have a comprehensive sound FX library. Video and DVD playback are on offer in both the studio and main lecture room.
The LFA editing floor has a fleet of fully serviced 16mm Steenbecks, cutting benches, rubber numbering machines and compeditors. We also have comprehensive non-linear editing facilities including 10 AVID DV Xpress suites equipped with DSR 11, fire-wire drives, CD and DVD decks. All show-reel or completed work can be exported on VHS or DVD to broadcast quality standard.
Rehearsal and recording studios are used at the top and basement levels of the LFA for all workshops and exercises.
The LFA library houses a DVD/VHS film collection and a book library. This room is also equipped with a bank of PC computers with Internet access. Software includes MS Office, Movie Magic Budgeting & Scheduling and Final Draft.
The student production office is also equipped with PC computers with Internet access, a telephone and a fax. All software detailed above is available on these computers. |
