FILMMAKING DIPLOMA UPDATE: Oscar-winning Cinematographer Billy Williams visits LFA Cinematographer Billy Williams took part in a Q&A session with the Filmmaking Diploma students, sharing his experiences of working on more than 50 feature films during a career spanning more than 40 years. Amongst Billy’s best-known movies are ‘On Golden Pond’, ‘Women In Love’ and ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, as well as the movie he won an Oscar for, ‘Gandhi’. The students were fascinated to hear what it is like to work with acclaimed actors such as Henry Fonda, Michael Caine, Richard Attenborough and Oliver Reed, not to mention his tales of mystery and intrigue about shooting the opening scenes of William Freidkin’s cult horror ‘The Exorcist’. "It was very informative for everyone," says student Annemarie Van Basten, "Billy was a good speaker and he touched on important things about cinematography, raising idealistic thoughts among the class when he brought in his Oscar. Oh, and he likes black tea without sugar!"
Footage of Billy's talk will be available on our website, so please check again soon. |
